Marshall's AeroAcademy continues to address skills shortages

Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group is pleased to announce that three of its AeroAcademy Foundation Degree students have attained BSc (Hons) in Aircraft Engineering at Kingston University.

Jack Heslewood, Glenn Butcher and Matthew Ayre all graduated in late 2012 with upper 2nd class (2:1) degrees; and represent the first group of students to do a Foundation Degree through AeroAcademy and then complete a BSc (Hons) Aircraft Engineering top-year at Kingston University. In addition, another student, Anna Davanzo (pictured), is due to complete her top-up year at Kingston University shortly and is part-sponsored by Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, having completed an industrial placement with the company.  This year will see approximately 14 students progressing to Kingston University to complete their top-up year.

Steve Fitz-Gerald, CEO of Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, comments: “We are delighted with the achievements of all students passing through AeroAcademy and that the academy is working so well as an aviation degree provider and is addressing industry skills shortages. For example, AeroAcademy post-graduates are not only coming to work for Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group but are also securing employment with Rolls-Royce and other leading companies in the aerospace sector.”

Now in its fourth year, AeroAcademy’s Foundation Degree course has a 100% success rate in terms of graduates attaining at least a 2:1. David Swann, Team Leader – Foundation Degree, AeroAcademy, notes: “Our Foundation Degree course has just gone through a significant upgrade and AeroAcademy is the only Kingston University partner to have attained the new updated course structure that reflects the embedding of core aviation and personal development skills.”

AeroAcademy is now recruiting for its September 2013 intake. Applications should be made via UCAS under institution code K84 courses H403 and H411.
