Not surprisingly most of the questions focused on meeting the growing demand for housing and improving infrastructure and public transport. The latter included some futuristic suggestions from the independent candidate which included electric pods to get around Cambridge.
The debate took place at the Dolphin Hotel, St Ives with an audience drawn from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
The panel included Councillor Kevin Price (Labour), Stephen Goldspink (The English Democrats), Peter Dawe (Independent) and Councillor Tim Bick (Liberal Democrat) who was representing their candidate Councillor Rod Cantrill. The Conservative and Green Party candidates were unable to attend. The debate was chaired by Glen Owen, Regional Director for ICE East of England.
