MedTech FUTURES Conference showcases best and brightest in healthcare technology

Health Enterprise East (HEE) is pleased to announce its MedTech FUTURES Conference on 31st October, a highlight in the calendar for all healthcare professionals with an interest in the latest advances in medical technology.

Professionals at the forefront of medtech innovation in the UK are taking part in the conference which will focus on the challenge of better integrating pioneering technologies into the NHS. Taking place at the Wellcome Trust, Genome Campus, Hinxton Hall, Cambridge, the conference seeks to equip attendees with practical guidance, ranging from how to raise investment to how to harness the power of health economics. Also, on offer will be advice from expert teams on ​​​R&D tax credits, IP licensing and regulatory compliance.

Several presentations will focus on emerging medtech trends, using examples of successful innovations to illustrate the steps needed to bring an innovation from idea to market. Exclusive insight into some of the innovations from HEE’s member NHS Trusts and related healthcare industry partners that are currently in development will also be unveiled. There will also be the chance to see live pitching in action as the inventors from HEE member Trusts behind five innovative projects all compete to win a £5,000 innovation voucher, delivering their ideas to the gathered audience and a panel of judges.

Hosted by science writer and broadcaster, Vivienne Parry OBE, the event will include keynote speeches from a number of clinical entrepreneurs and senior leaders within the healthcare industry and from emerging tech areas such as AI and robotics. Speakers include Mark Slack, Medical Director at CMR Surgical and head of Gynaecology and Urogynaecology at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, who will speak about how minimal access surgery will transform patient care, Andrew Laidlaw, Linux Specialist at IBM, who will present his thoughts on making advanced AI more accessible for users everywhere, and Laurence Pearce, founder of health technology business xim, who will speak about radical new technology improving vital signs monitoring.

Additionally, Dr Waheed Arian, Founder/CEO at Arian Teleheal and NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Fellow, will speak about his experience of setting up a global health start-up inspired by his childhood growing up as a refugee in Afghanistan.
