The UK Minister for the Cabinet Office, Matthew Hancock, has announced formation of a new six-member Steering Committee of digital and data experts that includes Dr Mark Thompson, University Senior Lecturer in Information Systems at Cambridge Judge Business School.

Speaking at the Open Data Institute summit in London on 3 November, Hancock spoke about the government’s plans to modernise and standardise its data infrastructure.
“To make sure that our work is genuinely pushing boundaries there will be a Steering Group of digital and data visionaries driving this agenda forward,” Hancock said. “This includes top names from the UK’s data-driven economy.”
The members of the new Steering Committee are: Sir Nigel Shadbolt of the Open Data Institute; Mustafa Suleyman of Google DeepMind; Fran Bennett of Mastadon C; Xavier Rolet of the London Stock Exchange; Mark Thompson of Cambridge Judge Business School; and Dame Fiona Caldicott, former Chair of the National Information Governance Board for Health and Social Care.
