MOOCs offer digital marketing training

In what is believed to be a unique new approach to digital marketing training, Cambridge Marketing College has teamed up with digital marketing agency Quirk to offer a range of MOOCs (massive open online courses). These are practical online short courses in digital marketing.

Designed for marketers wanting a rapid and flexible way of getting up to speed in digital marketing, a key feature of the courses is that they can be studied online, with no need for travel or to attend classes. Each module takes five weeks on average to complete and is delivered entirely online. Delegates are formed into small study groups and have the support of an online tutor at all times. Webinars and other resources are online and designed to keep the delegates on track.

Ten courses are currently available including: Digital PR, E-mail marketing, SEO, User experience design and Online advertising. Quirk’s respected Digital Marketing textbook provides insight into some of the more complex aspects of implementing digital marketing campaigns.

“A study by Adobe this year reported that 76% of marketers believe their discipline had changed more in the last two years than in the previous 50," said Charles Nixon, Master of the College. “At the same time, the recession has meant a lack of funds available to companies and individuals for training and development. These new courses allow people to keep up with the rapid pace of change in a flexible way that suits their circumstances.”

“The courses are also proving popular among senior marketing directors who want to stay up to date but don’t want to sit in a class with people half their age," added Nixon.
