Movies on the Meadows kick off Cambridge Film Festival 2015

Don't miss sunset screenings this August Bank Holiday weekend in the most picturesque setting Cambridge has to offer - ten films, six screens, three nights, one river, millions of stars!

Launching the Cambridge Film Festival, one of the UK’s most prestigious and well-respected film festivals, Movies on the Meadows is a chance to watch a whole variety of brilliant movies on giant inflatable screens (one of the three biggest in the UK) under the night sky at Grantchester Meadows, on the banks of the River Cam.

The films showing on Sunday (August 30th) are: Back To The Future  (Zemeckis, 1985), Brief Encounter  (Lean, 1946), and The Railway Children  (Jeffries, 1970). Sunday's event features a post-screening audio-visual extravanganza from the innovators who are Addictive TV!

Acclaimed A/V DJ duo, Addictive TV will perform a specially curated festival remix set of their ‘supercuts’ following the outdoor screening of Back To The Future.  Addictive TV will serve up a blend of cinema and electronic music, described by Paste Magazine as “a compelling pop culture audio/visual avalanche”.  Prepare to be engulfed.

Bring a picnic or browse the varied food and drink on offer from local vendors.  This is a 'silent disco' screening so you will need to bring a (returnable) deposit of £5 in cash for an FM radio which you can use to listen to the film through headphones (also feel free to bring your own earphones or headphones).

Adult tickets are £15, all concessions (including Picturehouse members) £12
Gates open to the meadows at 6pm, screening starts at dusk.

Don't miss the chance to experience the UK’s biggest and best outdoor cinema experience!

MORE ABOUT ADDICTIVE TV

The first artists ever sanctioned by Hollywood to remix movies, Addictive TV have been at the forefront of the audiovisual remix scene for well over a decade. From performing at the BFI IMAX cinema in London to the Glastonbury Festival, and the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Shanghai to the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the electronic duo have now performed in over a staggering 50 countries.

Sampling movies to the extreme, the pair create their music by keeping the audio and video samples together, so audiences get to see more than just a DJ, more than just graphics or visuals; they get to experience music in a genuinely unique way - a complete hybrid of cinema and concert!  They've officially remixed movies for many of the Hollywood studios as alternative trailers including Iron Man, cult Japanese anime epic Tekkon Kinkreet and Danny Boyle’s Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire.
“Responsible for mind-bending live entertainment” is how The Times described Addictive TV, who were twice voted Number One VJ in the World in DJ Mag alongside the Top 100 DJ Poll, with the magazine saying “they’ve become famed for their eye-popping live shows, shredding and cutting film with beats into a heady, mind-meltingly funky mixture”.
