Voted as Cambridge's number one pub on rating websites, the Clarendon Arms experiences a daily flow of customers through its doors to try its menu.
The awards, being coordinated by the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) and the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, hope that this competition will promote the position of chef as a great career.
The winners of each category will receive a £500 prize that will be awarded in the House of Commons in early 2018.
Mr Zeichner said: "There are many great pubs and pub chefs in Cambridge, so choosing one to nominate is a tough choice, but having asked around it is clear that Rook Gouldie at the Clarendon Arms is highly regarded and I'm delighted to make the nomination for Rook for the Parliamentary Pub Chef of the Year Award."
Brigid Simmonds, CEO of the British Beer & Pub Association said: “With pubs serving around a billion meals each year it is important to recognise the contribution pub chefs make to the eating out experience in this country. The outstanding range of culinary options that span from breakfast to evening meals demonstrates the huge wealth of creativity in pub kitchens, big and small.
“Many leading, well-known celebrity chefs have ventured into the pub arena helping to further boost the quality of food in pubs, whilst still making it an affordable treat. Our aim is to highlight the talented chefs around the country, help spot future stars and encourage more young people to consider training and working as a chef in a pub."
Landlord of the Clarendon Arms, Lawrence Dixon, commented on the nomination by saying: “We are delighted that Rook has been nominated for the Parliamentary Pub Chef of the Year Awards by Daniel, and are really appreciative of his support."
