Jane Ramsey, CUH Chair said: “We welcome Kate to CUH in what is an important new role for the Trust. In carrying out our responsibilities to deliver quality care for our patients, this role will ensure rigour, and the highest standards of probity in meeting our obligations to our patients and as an NHS foundation trust. Kate comes to CUH with a wealth of experience across the health sector with especially valuable experience from her recent role at Papworth Hospital. The senior management team and the Board look forward to working with her and to being involved with the development of this new role.”
Kate said: “Cambridge University Hospitals makes a significant contribution to both the biomedical cluster in Cambridge and to the wider health economy, as well as being a much valued regional hospital and I am delighted to be joining the team at CUH at such an exciting time for the Trust. I am looking forward to building on the achievements already made and working with stakeholders and partners both inside and outside the Trust to help CUH deliver the best for patients.”
Kate will advise on corporate governance, compliance, public engagement, legal services and communications and also contribute to formulation of strategy, policy and delivery of corporate and statutory objectives.
Part of Kate’s role has a specific task to revolutionise the way the Trust engages with staff, patients, carers and the public to develop and shape Trust services. This post will play a pivotal part in helping the Trust Board realise this ambition.
Kate is a director with experience in corporate governance, communication and change management in complex environments. She has worked in the NHS for more than 20 years, including most recently at Papworth Hospital as corporate services director.

New director of corporate affairs appointed for Cambridge University Hospitals

Kate Lancaster has been appointed as director of corporate affairs for Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH). She will join the Trust from her current position as corporate services director at Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
