New Haverhill retail park set to open this month

A new retail park is set to open in Haverhill this month, attracting national brands to the area and creating a huge boost to the local economy.

The retail park on the former Project Office Furniture site on Ehringshausen Way will house large outlets including Lidl, Pets at Home and Home Bargains, with a further retail unit being marketed to national retailers. Cambridge based developers and investors Howard Group spearheaded the project, which adds to the town’s retail offering and brings further jobs and investment to the area.

Colin Brown, director of portfolio development at Howard Group, said: “We’re proud to bring further investment and jobs to Haverhill with the opening of this new retail park. The town has previously suffered from ‘retail leak’, which has encouraged local people to go further afield to neighboring towns and cities to spend their money. We’re hoping that the arrival of three or four national brands will help to bolster the town’s economy.”

Suzie Copleston, store manager at the new Pets at Home store on the park, said: “We’re delighted to be opening in Haverhill. There was a strong demand from local pet owners for Pets at Home to come to town, and we’re very pleased to have been able to grant them their wish.

“Our new store will feature thousands of dedicated pet products for not only dogs and cats but small animals, fish and local wildlife too. We have also created 13 jobs in the community across a range of full time and part time positions.”

As part of the planning consent Howard Group funded a new pedestrian crossing on Ehringshausen Way and gifted a parcel of land to the County Council to extend the county wildlife site alongside the old Haverhill railway line.
