Billed as ‘a feast of festivals’, House of Cambridge is scheduled to take place from Saturday 26 May to Sunday 3 June, on Parker’s Piece. The festival will showcase content from the best of the city’s existing festivals and creative curators, all under one spectacular roof - the Van Rosmalen Paradiso Spiegeltent - an antique performance space that is used at some of the UK's finest festivals and has never been seen in Cambridge before.
Confirmed as taking part so far are the Cambridge International Jazz Festival, the Cambridge Comedy Festival, the Cambridge Film Festival, the Cambridge Science Festival, the Festival of Ideas, the Ahbab Festival (Arabic Music) and the Cambridge Cocktail Weekend. Also involved are Independent Cambridge, Neon Moon, Green Mind Gigs and a guest curator from London called The Society of the Golden Slippers. More festivals are expected to sign up in the next few weeks.
The team is looking to raise £25k through crowdfunding and £50k through corporate sponsorship to help cover the logistical costs of the festival. According to founder Andrea Cockerton: “We love this city and its fabulous festivals. By showcasing so much together, the House of Cambridge will be a brilliant opportunity for businesses, and provide both tourists and the general public with some magical entertainment. We need everyone to get behind this to make it happen as it’s such a massive project! Please support us."
