Mark Read, Managing Director and Owner of Whizzle Ltd in Ely, joins the LEP as a Board Member, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a desire to support the further economic growth of the local area.
In addition to welcoming Mark, LEP Board Advisor Neil Darwin willing be joining the core team as the new Director of Enterprise and Skills on secondment from Opportunity Peterborough.
Neil, who has been a Board Advisor to the LEP since its inception, will focus on moving forward the enterprise and skills agenda for the LEP, building the engagement and support for business across the LEP area and developing our skills activity which includes the delivery of The Skills Service across Rutland, Peterborough, Fenland, and King’s Lynn, as well as supporting high growth potential businesses to reach their full potential.
Mark Cooper, who has worked as a consultant for the LEP as Skills Lead, will continue to in a consultancy capacity to further develop the Skills Strategy he helped to develop with the support of local businesses, education and training providers, and the public sector.
Mark Reeve, Chairman of the LEP, said: “It is an exciting time at the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership as we continue to negotiate our Growth Deal with Government following the submission of our Strategic Economic Plan earlier this year. With some significant projects already underway, the profile and positive impact of the LEP continues to expand.
“I am therefore pleased to welcome both Mark Read to the Board, with his first-hand experience of running a successful local company, and Neil Darwin to the team, to provide us with strategic level support to help us support the creation of even more new jobs in our local area.”
