New platform accelerates healthcare revolution

Medical technology innovator Cambridge Healthcare is spearheading another trailblazing development in UK patient care.

The international startup has entered the multi-billion dollar population health management market with the launch of a revolutionary Enterprise Health Analytics platform.

Population health management is huge in the US and Cambridge Healthcare (CHL) is now bringing it to the NHS.

It is estimated that the NHS in England alone could save at least £4.4 billion a year if it adopts innovations that involve patients, their families and communities in the proven management of long term health conditions.

The findings from the two year People Powered Health programme led by Nesta, the UK's innovation foundation, involved teams from hospitals, GPs practices, community organisations and patients groups across England.

Cambridge Healthcare’s pioneering software arrives right on cue: It provides population-based reporting – including real-time analysis of health transactions – as well as data collected from sensors, patient monitoring systems, medical instruments and handheld devices.

The platform also enables health professionals to make better-informed decisions while improving clinical care, efficiency and control of costs, as well as creating reports to see whether their organisation is performing against important population and public health criteria, such as the NHS’ Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and other quality frameworks.

Dawson King, CEO and founder of CHL, exclusively told Business Weekly: “2013 has been a transformational year for us with the launch in January of our award-winning patient-held medical record that allows patients to record their health information using patient-friendly clinical terms – followed by the release in May of our open API, which facilitates the sharing of data between systems, healthcare professionals and patients.

“We’re very excited to announce today the launch of our Enterprise Health Analytics platform which will, for the first time, provide the NHS with comprehensive population information to help improve commissioning and guide policies that affect healthcare quality, access and outcomes.

“Our health analytics platform will effectively be our first commercial product to market since our personal health record and patient portal will remain free to NHS patients and professionals.”

Business Weekly named Cambridge Healthcare in its elite global game-changing companies earlier this year.
