- 9th February, 3 – 5pm, Stir café, Chesterton Road, Cambridge – co-working café (for entrepreneurs and freelancers)
- 10th February, 6 – 8pm, Stir café, Chesterton Road, Cambridge – pizza evening (all welcome)
- 12th February, 3 – 5.30pm, Lifecraft, Bath House, Gwydir Street, Cambridge
- 14th February, 3-4pm, Fulbourn Hospital Chaplaincy, Fulbourn Road, Cambridge (for former inpatients of Fulbourn Hospital)
Many of us feel low and tired in February due to the lack of natural light in our dark winter days. Lumie bright lights emit a much higher light intensity or lux (the amount of visible light a person receives at a given point) than standard lighting to provide typically 10,000 lux compared to 500 lux for a well-lit office. This exposure to light stimulates the brain to produce more serotonin, a hormone that positively affects your mood, and less of the sleep hormone melatonin so you feel more alert. Just 30 minutes or so of sitting with a bright light is enough to make a difference.
“I am thrilled to be offering these pop-up light cafes this February. I think everyone needs a bit of a boost during January and February due to the days being short. I hope that the lights will help lift people’s mood and brighten up their February. The light café is a project I have wanted to bring to fruition for a number of years and I am grateful to all the organisations involved for helping to make it happen and especially to Lumie for kindly donating the lights," says Emma Stevens, Director of Cambridge Startup Help - read her blog here.
