New robotic platform keeps Salimetrics in the forefront of salivary bioscience testing

Salimetrics and its joint venture partner Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, continue to invest in new equipment to improve the saliva and hair testing service for customers based within the UK and Europe. This technology is the fast-developing and minimally invasive alternative to blood testing for the monitoring of salivary and hair biomarkers.

How to arrange saliva/hair testing in Cambridge is covered in this POST

One good example for this technology would be research into stress, anxiety and depression which are a part of everyday life. This latest technology is helping to advance the testing service, which is now being offered, using the latest available equipment.

The laboratory is located within the award winning Psychology Department of the University under the direction of Dr Matt Bristow.

The testing platform can handle up to 600 saliva samples a day and uses a scanner for barcode recognition, software for tracking, database integration and printing, offering full automation of the whole process.

The joint venture is using a Tecan liquid handling platform to automate enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) analysis of a range of biomarkers utilizing Salimetrics technology to test a wide range of Salivary Biomarkers and Hair Analysis including:

Salivary Analytes

  • Cortisol (Saliva/Hair)
  • Alpha Amylase
  • Melatonin
  • Testosterone
  • Cotinine
  • C-Reactive Protein
  • Secretory IgA
  • Interleukin 1-beta
