Features previously deployed in Early Access versions of the software have now been promoted to “stable,” and bug fixes have been made where required.
Key additions in this version of the software include:
Demo mode improvements that offer a realistic and risk-free way to explore PicoScope 7 Test & Measurement software without needing physical hardware. Featuring a broad range of simulated real-world signals, it allows engineers to practice adjusting triggers and capturing waveforms and testing serial decoding tools. Whether evaluating PicoScope before purchasing or using it for training, Demo mode is the perfect way to build confidence in PicoScope capabilities before working on live projects.
Math channels parity with Automated Measurements, allowing engineers to visualize key waveform characteristics over time rather than relying on static values. New functions include cycle time, pulse width, rise and fall times, rising and falling rates and true RMS (DC coupled). These enhancements make correlating measured values with time and/or other parameters easier. When used with Masks and Actions, Math channels become a powerful tool for catching deviations from normal operation, helping engineers to identify and fix faults faster.
Tracking rulers provide instant, real-time waveform values at specific points of interest, eliminating the need to review captured data afterwards. Available in both Scope and Spectrum modes, these rulers improve efficiency by letting engineers see critical waveform details at a glance.
Advanced serial decoding filters allow users to isolate and analyze only the most relevant serial data packets, streamlining complex communications analysis. For example, when working with UDS on CAN, the user can set filters to display only specific control unit responses, cutting through unnecessary data and making diagnostics more efficient. This feature represents a major step forward for advanced serial data analysis in PicoScope, with more capabilities still in development.
A host of additional UX, performance and connectivity enhancements. The Channel Options panel is now color-coded to match the selected channel color. Trigger icons now dynamically reflect trigger direction and sample rate details are clearly displayed in the Timebase options panel and toolbar.
For advanced data analysis, a command-line batch converter allows fast conversion of .psdata files to .CSV, .TXT, or MATLAB formats. Behind the scenes, a major software upgrade improves stability, performance and enables future feature development.
“After countless cups of coffee and a few debates about the laws of physics, we're thrilled to unveil the latest stable release of PicoScope 7. It’s faster, smarter, and more intuitive – so much so that even our engineers are impressed (and they’re a tough crowd). Whether you’re debugging circuits or just admiring a beautifully crisp waveform, this update takes your test and measurement game to the next level!" – Trevor Smith, Product Manager, Pico Technology Ltd.
