Prior to his current position at SEB Nigel spent ten years at CSFB, ten years at Rowe & Pitman (now UBS Securities) and nine years at a large London-based family office. He has worked in almost every mainstream segment of the equity business during his career.
His support will further enable Zinwave to achieve its objective of ensuring optimized coverage for 4G LTE services by supplying an in-building DAS solution that is simple in design, completely future-proof and delivers the lowest total cost of ownership to the in-building industry.
According to Cisco’s most recent global mobile data traffic forecast update, worldwide mobile data traffic reached 885 petabytes per month at the end of 2012 compared to 520 petabytes per month the previous year. It also predicts that Smartphones will generate over 50% of mobile data traffic in 2013.
Zinwave’s active DAS (known as Zinwave 3000) is the only solution on the market globally that supports legacy public safety and cellular services as well as any variant of the new LTE services, including multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) on a single hardware layer. Its low component count (comprising a hub, a service module, an optical module and a remote unit) removes the need for complex multi-layer infrastructures, making it the most economic and flexible wireless coverage solution on the market.
Zinwave 3000 supports any combination of services, regardless of protocol and modulation scheme between 150MHz and 2700MHz and eliminates the need for expensive and disruptive upgrades to existing infrastructures to accommodate new 4G LTE frequency allocations and/or migrations. This unique flexibility makes Zinwave 3000 an attractive business proposition to building owners and operators alike.
Says Nigel Pilkington, Head of SEB Venture Capital, London; "I am very excited to be joining the board of this dynamic company at such a key moment. Zinwave has clearly developed the most functional, flexible and economically viable solution in this significant and growing market. Mobile phone users have passed the tolerance point for unreliable connectivity. Add this to the growing security applications and it is easy to see why this company has a great future."
Says Colin Abrey, President of International Sales; “Zinwave welcomes Nigel to its board. Cellular communication is undergoing radical change, with Smartphones and Tablets rapidly replacing conventional Windows devices. Working practices are also becoming more flexible and reliable coverage is needed to accommodate this inside buildings because, according to industry estimates, this is where more than 70% of all mobile sessions are initiated. Our wideband active DAS is currently providing building owners with the lowest cost of ownership compared with traditional solutions because of its multi-service-multi-frequency capabilities.”
