Nujira presents award to rising star of electronics industry

Nujira, the world leader in Envelope Tracking (ET) technology, presented an award at the prestigious Imperial College Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) student prize-giving ceremony this week.

Nujira believes that there is huge potential in applying smart design techniques to analogue electronics to create new innovations - something its own team of talented engineers has done over the last decade to develop the highest performance ET solutions. Nujira argues that companies should invest more in this sort of intelligent innovation in analogue technologies rather than purely focusing R&D on developing the latest digital logic technology.

In light of this, Nujira is keen to promote innovation within the electronics industry and support young
talent such as Lim Wei Li, winner of the EEE Best Final-Year Project prize, presented by Nujira. Whilst studying at Imperial College, Lim chose to research memristor-based chemical synapses as an alternative to conventional CMOS circuit designs. Her findings proved very significant and demonstrated the potential of using memristors in artificial neural networks.

Tim Haynes, Nujira’s CEO, commented: “Our success over the last decade can be solely attributed to the true engineering excellence of the team. Young engineers, like Lim, are the future of electronics engineering and we are keen to show them our support and inspire excellence. Nujira is honoured to be presenting this prestigious prize to a rising star of the electronics industry.”

About Nujira

Nujira’s mission is to dramatically improve the energy efficiency of transmitters for 3G and 4G handsets, base stations and TV broadcast applications by reducing the amount of waste energy dissipated as heat in the RF Power Amplifier circuit.

Nujira’s patented Coolteq® Modulator technology dynamically modulates the power supply to the circuit in line with the amplitude of the signal, enabling the creation of highly efficient RF Power
Amplifiers. Today Coolteq technology powers the industry’s most energy efficient and highest performing 4G base stations and TV broadcast transmitters. Nujira is now applying the same energy efficient technology to smartphones and other portable wireless devices.

A fabless semiconductor company located in Cambridge, UK, with design centres in Cambridge and Edinburgh, Nujira is enabling the design of cost-effective multi-mode, multi-band handsets that deliver faster data rates, longer battery life, and better coverage.
