Cambridge disability charity CBM UK launches its 'Inclusion Matters' campaign with a free guide to help people take simple steps towards greater accessibility.

One in six people worldwide lives with a significant disability. Yet, millions continue to face barriers that prevent them from participating fully in everyday life – from accessing education and healthcare to finding employment or receiving vital humanitarian support during emergencies.

This August, Christian disability charity, CBM UK, is calling on people across Cambridge to take simple but meaningful action to help change that through its new Inclusion Matters campaign.

The campaign encourages individuals, schools, workplaces and communities to think differently about accessibility and inclusion, demonstrating how small changes can make a big difference to the lives of people with disabilities.

As part of the campaign, CBM UK has launched a free inclusion guide, packed with practical tips on making everyday spaces and interactions more accessible. Covering topics including communications, inclusive language, workplaces and social media, the guide is designed to help anyone take their first steps towards creating a more inclusive world.

Sarah Bennett, CBM UK's Head of Communications based in Cambridge, said: “Disability touches all of us, whether through families, friends, colleagues or communities. Yet too many people with disabilities continue to face barriers that most of us don’t even notice. Inclusion isn’t just about ramps or accessible buildings; it’s about ensuring that everyone feels welcome, respected, valued and able to participate fully in their communities.

Our inclusion guide shows that by creating a more accessible world doesn’t require big changes; often it’s small, everyday actions that can make the biggest difference. We hope people will download the guide, share it with others and join us in making inclusion matter.”

Throughout August, the campaign will also shine a spotlight on the experiences of people with disabilities around the world and the difference that inclusive education, healthcare, livelihoods and humanitarian action can make. People are also invited to show their support by adding their name to the Inclusion Matters campaign and standing with CBM UK in building a more inclusive world.
