OU Business School invites Milton Keynes business leaders to attend Briefing Breakfast

Making sense of climate change: the role of personal values in understanding business engagement.

Local business leaders in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area, are invited to attend the next Open University Business School ‘Business Network Breakfast Briefing’ on Wednesday 6 May. Open University (OU) associate lecturer and principal associate of the Sustainable Business Company, Dr Sarah Williams, will discuss how understanding the values of senior managers and staff can help business leaders overcome internal tensions and deliver necessary changes when dealing with the challenges of sustainability.

Climate change will return to the top of the business and political agendas again later this year, when the United Nations Climate Change Conference takes place in Paris in November and December. Businesses will be expected to deliver the sustainability that leaders demand to meet the challenges of society but Dr Williams believes there is a tension between the messages from Government to business and how business leaders choose to act. Dr Anja Schaefer, senior lecturer in management will be joining Sarah for the Q&A session.

The aim of the OUBS Business Network is to share the research insights of its leading academics on leadership and management and help small, medium and large businesses to flourish. Previous Business Network Briefings have looked at a range of subjects, including ‘Big Data’, ‘Managing SMEs’, ‘Managing in Digital Markets’ and ‘Sport as the Local Economic Game Changer’.

The networking event takes place at the Open University, Walton Hall, on Wednesday 6 May, between 8am and 10am. There is no charge to attend but pre-booking is essential. A hot breakfast buffet will be served at 8am.
