Photocentric wins 'Best development in 3D printing' award

The IDTechex event on emerging technologies is taking place in Berlin this week. Last night (Weds) Photocentric was presented with the award for the Best Development in 3D Printing for its use of LCD screens and resins that cure in the visible light spectrum.

This award means a great deal to Photocentric and its development team.

Daylight Polymer Printing enables LCD screens made for normal human viewing, from mobiles through to large format TVs, to be the imaging source for 3D printing. Photocentric had to develop resins that are active in the visible light spectrum but also work with the relatively low light intensity emitted from screens.

The company says: "We all know that the screens on our phones, tablets and TVs are higher resolution that ever before and we are using this cost effective technology to harness the power of 3D printing."
