Photograph a civil engineering project and win £50

Entry is open for the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) annual photograph competition. 'This is Civil Engineering', now in its seventh year, seeks images to show the public what civil engineering is about. There are two prizes of £50 each for the best image from within the East of England the best image outside the region.

ICE says: "We are not looking for pictures of iconic buildings like The Shard or Eiffel Tower but images that say to the public 'this is what civil engineers do'. It is not a competition about photography skills.  We are simply looking for images we can use to raise the profile of the profession and help the public understand civil engineering.

"You can enter up to two pictures which must have been taken within12 months prior to the closing date which is Friday 30 May 2014. Please remember to include:

  • your name
  • contact information
  • details about the picture

"If you wish you can include details of the camera settings but this is not essential.

"Entries should be sent to: [email protected] The winners will be announced at the ICE Merit Awards Dinner on Friday 27 June at the Belfry Hotel, Cambourne, Cambridge.

"All the entries are judged independently and awarded marks out of 10; the aggregate score providing the winners.  You can take a look at the 2013 entries and scores here."
