Prism Electronics runner raises money for Cancer Research

Account manager Glen Dear of St Ives-based contract electronics manufacturer Prism Electronics has taken part in this year's Milton Keynes marathon to raise money for Cancer Research.

The 26.2 mile run route followed a single lap along closed roads and cycle paths, passing by and through beautiful lakes, woodlands and open green areas. The race finished inside the MK Dons 22,500 seat football stadium, providing runners with an amazing atmosphere as the crowd cheered them over the finish line!

Asked what inspired him to take part in this year's marathon Glen responded: "I like to set myself a physical challenge most years and when a friend of mine said that only one per cent of people in the UK complete a marathon in their lifetime, we agreed that's what we would do."

Once word got out of his participation in the marathon friends, family and colleagues started to enquire about sponsorship. When asked about his choice of charity Glen commented: "As cancer has affected a close family member and friends of mine, it felt like the right charity."

So far Glen has raised over £500 for Cancer Research and the figure is still climbing!

Prism business development director David Dickin said: "When we heard Glen was running a marathon to raise money for such a worthy charity many people at Prism were keen to support him in this impressive challenge.

"Completing this marathon is not only an amazing personal achievement for Glen but raises awareness and funds for Cancer Research. We have a very compassionate team here at Prism and we are delighted to be able to support members in their community and charity work."
