New Meaning Foundation is incredibly excited to announce that we have received a £20,000 funding grant from the National Lottery Community Fund, to allow us to deliver a Foundations for Future course to our learners, through the NOCN Independent Living Qualification.

This will include:

  • TRAVEL AND NAVIGATION SKILLS: Learning about safety while getting around, using public transport, and understanding local areas.
  • HOME MANAGEMENT: Skills like cooking simple meals, shopping for groceries, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and managing household expenses.
  • LEISURE AND HOBBIES: Encouraging creativity and relaxation through activities like hobbies.
  • PERSONAL CARE: Promoting health and hygiene through lessons on eating a balanced diet, fitness, and personal care routines.

But most importantly, this will have a huge impact on our learners. Our learners come to us often lacking in confidence and struggling in the mainstream. This course will allow us to support the development of confidence, independence, and employability in our young people. Additionally, long-term, this course will facilitate better mental well-being, and improve social inclusion.

All of this going towards building a better future.
