Qualcomm ULP Bluetooth audio SoCs bring superior audio quality to consumers

Design wins build on Qualcomm’s sustained success across wireless audio

Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), showcased today at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona the most recent wireless earbuds and hearables using the latest Qualcomm® QCC5100 and QCC302x series, ultra-low power Bluetooth audio SoCs. Now available in more than 10 products, increased traction with these SoCs means even more consumers and audiophiles may enjoy robust, low-latency and high-quality wireless audio experiences.

The QCC5100 and QCC302x series include support for Qualcomm® aptX™ HD and aptX audio technology designed for consistent, high-quality audio streaming over Bluetooth wireless technology and Qualcomm® cVc™ Noise Cancellation Technology designed for reduced background noise and echo feedback for a more intelligible voice call experience. Qualcomm TrueWireless™ Stereo technology is also designed to provide more robust overall connectivity when making wire-free calls and listening to music, an easier pairing experience, and more balanced power distribution between earbuds for longer usage time and battery life.

“As leaders in true wireless technology, we take pride in the reputation for innovation that we’ve established in the wireless audio space,” said Chris Havell, senior director, product marketing, Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd. “We’re thrilled that this robustly-designed, and more cost-effective solution is helping to open the door for more consumers around the world to experience the joy of listening to superior high definition sound quality virtually wherever they go, without being bogged down by wires."

The QCC5100 series features powerful, comprehensively programmable, quad-core processing and is designed to deliver unprecedented efficiency in power consumption compared to our previous SoCs to date, for highly differentiated headsets and hearables. These SoCs support the development of very small form factor, richly-featured earbuds that can be used virtually all day, with up to 10 hours of play from a 65mAhr battery.*

The QCC302x series features powerful tri-core processing comprising a configurable 32-bit DSP and two programmable 32-bit application processor subsystems to help reduce development time, supporting freedom of design and flexibility for innovation. In particular, the SoCs are very well-suited for phone manufacturers looking to develop inbox headsets with high quality audio and Bluetooth wireless technology after the removal of the standard headphone jack from their phone designs.
