For the third consecutive year Redrow’s Eastern division hosted a charity auction and race night at Chelmsford City Racecourse. The successful night saw the 159 guests raise the vital funds for the Trust through horse racing, a raffle, and an auction.
A £5,000 donation from the housebuilder, plus a top auction prize of a framed and signed football shirt by Harry Kane that auctioned for £1,600, contributed to the huge fundraising success. 51 subcontractors, suppliers and Redrow employees also took part in a clay pigeon shoot to raise money for the Trust.
The Cambridge based charity, Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, is the charity for Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals, providing patients with care above and beyond NHS provision. The charity improves a patient’s experience by raising funds to provide access to the latest cutting-edge equipment, additional therapy services and improved spaces for relaxation and reflection. Redrow and the housebuilders subcontractors’ donation will contribute towards a new Family Therapist, delivering a holistic approach to family mental health and emotional well being.
Simon Thorley, a trustee at Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, commented: “We would like to thank everyone from Redrow who has helped us achieve this total. It is an outstanding achievement, and hugely appreciated. We see a lot of families coming through Addenbrooke’s who struggle with matters such as loss and bereavement, so we are grateful to be able to welcome a Family Therapist to the hospital. It is a vital service, so we are thrilled with the support Redrow’s employees and suppliers have shown us.”

Addenbrooke’s new Family Therapist aims to improve the lives of those who are dealing with bereavement or life-changing illnesses within their families. Therapy can help these individuals and families cope and reduce the risk of long-term mental health challenges.
