Novo Nordisk Foundation in Denmark have announced they are to begin using Researchfish for collecting outputs from research they support, making them the first funding organisation to use Researchfish in Europe.

Researchfish will enable the foundation – who fund around DKK 800 million of research every year – to track research outputs consistently across funded grants and monitor progress towards impact.

The Researchfish platform connects researchers with the funding bodies and universities that support them. Novo Nordisk Foundation, who primarily award grants for research within biomedicine, biotechnology, general practice and family medicine, nursing and art, will be able to capture the outcomes from specific research grants, allowing them to see the value of their funding both now and well beyond the lifetime of the grant. Researchfish provides a simple, consistent and accurate report of research outcomes and enables a single point of data entry for researchers who need to communicate with multiple funders.

“We are delighted to welcome Novo Nordisk as our first overseas customer as we are now expanding into other countries across multiple research disciplines,” said Researchfish Director, Frances Buck.

“We will be using Researchfish to track our researcher outcomes and funding. The potential this opens up for return on investment monitoring and analysis of research funding is huge” confirmed Thomas Alslev Christensen (Head of Operations) at Novo Nordisk Foundation.

Researchfish, who currently have researchers reporting in around 145 countries, has already been successfully used by all seven Research Councils in the UK and supports over 80 other research funding bodies including Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and Alzheimers Research UK.
