Road closures on Addenbrooke's site from next week

To enable the installation of a large (600 mm) water main on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus that serves the site and national water network, it will be necessary to undertake a series of access road closures on the western side of the campus.

Phase one (above) of the works requires the complete closure of Francis Crick Avenue for a period of 11 weeks from the roundabout at Addenbrooke’s Way, Dame Mary Archer Way and Francis Crick Avenue to the junction of the Guided Bus Way and Francis Crick Avenue. From this junction to the roundabout of Francis Crick Avenue and Robinson Way it will be single carriageway only under traffic light control to allow access for the Guided Bus and MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology.

All traffic will be diverted along Dame Mary Archer Way and rejoin Robinson Way via the traffic lights of that junction. Diversionary signs will be installed to help with site navigation. This phase of the works will start on Monday February 24th 2014 and is scheduled for completion on Friday May 9th 2014. Every effort will be made to accelerate this work to allow the closure restrictions to be lifted sooner if possible.

Phase two requires the opening of the Francis Crick Avenue to all traffic and the complete closure of Dame Mary Archer Way for a period of two weeks. This will be from the roundabout at Addenbrooke’s Way, Dame Mary Archer Way and Francis Crick Avenue to the junction of Dame Mary Archer Way and Robinson Way.
Diversionary signs will be installed to help with site navigation. This phase of the works will start on Monday May 12th 2014 and is scheduled for completion on Friday May 23rd 2014. Every effort will be made to accelerate this work to allow the closure restrictions to be lifted sooner if possible.(Image removed)

Phase three is to continue the installation along the soft verge on the southern side of Dame Mary Archer Way and does not affect the free flow of traffic along either Francis Crick Avenue of Dame Mary Archer Way. This phase of the works will start on Monday   May 26th 2014 and is scheduled for completion on Friday June  27th  2014. Every effort will be made to accelerate this work to allow the closure restrictions to be lifted sooner if possible.
