NEW WORK
M1 J10-10A Luton spur, Bedfordshire: Widening
Luton Borough Council is carrying out carriageway re-alignment and widening work to create more lanes on the approach to the airport between J10 and J10A of the M1. During the work, there will be lane closures between 9pm and 6am with narrow lanes remaining in place 24 hours a day in both directions and a 50mph speed limit for safety reasons. A1 / A6001 Biggleswade, Bedfordshire: Roundabout improvements
Ongoing work to improve the Biggleswade South roundabout will require overnight carriageway closures and lane closures on the A1 between 9pm and 6am with narrow lanes remaining in place 24 hours a day in both directions and a 50mph speed limit for safety reasons. Work is due to be completed on 16 August 2014.
A47 Postwick, Norfolk: Postwick Hub junction upgrade
Norfolk County Council is starting work to upgrade the Postwick Hub junction over the A47. For the duration of the work, there will be an eastbound lane 1 closure and a temporary 50mph speed limit on the A47. In addition, work will require some overnight closures on the A47 as follows:
· Overnight closure of the eastbound A47 on 13, 14, 15 and 16 May between 8pm and 6am
During the closures, traffic will be diverted from the Trowse interchange via the A146, A143, A12 to rejoin the A47 at Vauxhall roundabout, Great Yarmouth. Traffic travelling to Postwick/Brundall, will be directed to return on the A47 westbound. Traffic wishing to enter the eastbound A47 at Postwick will be directed to the Trowse interchange to follow the diversion route.
Any load in excess of 4.2m will not be able to drive through the scheme. Abnormal loads less than 4.2m will still be able to drive though the scheme but may need assistance. There will be an abnormal load waiting bay with a contact number on the eastbound A47 before the Trowse interchange to call for assistance.

ONGOING WORK
A14 Girton to Histon (junctions 31 to 32), Cambridgeshire: Lane gain scheme
Work to add an additional lane on the A14 in each direction between Girton and Histon and improve slip roads onto the M11 and A14, as part of the Government’s Pinchpoint Programme, started on 14 April. The work will mainly take place during the day, with existing lanes narrowed and a 50mph speed limit imposed, but some overnight carriageway closures are required for the completion of the A14/M11 crossovers and commissioning temporary speed cameras.
Closures for this week are as follows:
· overnight carriageway closure (between 9pm and 6am) eastbound between Junction 32 and 31 from 12 May to 17 May 2014 (Six nights). There will be no closure Sunday 18 May 2014.
Diversions will be in place using the M11, A505 and A11. The planned completion is December 2014.
A14/ M11 Girton Interchange, Cambridgeshire: Geotechnical works
Work to reconstruct the embankment and drainage system adjacent to the A14 in both directions at various sites at junction 31, Girton Interchange, is now complete. Narrow lanes on the eastbound A1307 and A14 will remain in place until 20 June while finishing works are carried out.
A11 Cambridgeshire: Central reserve barrier repair
Central reserve barrier repair works on the A11 between the M11 junction 9a, Stumps Cross, and the A14 in Cambridgeshire continue from 8pm to 6am. The outside lane will be closed in both directions during the night-time works for up to three weeks. A 24 hour temporary speed restriction of 50mph will remain in place for safety reasons for the period of the works due to the incomplete nature of the barrier. Work is due to be completed on 23 May 2014.
A11 Fiveways to Thetford, Suffolk: Major upgrade
Work is taking place along the A11 between Fiveways roundabout (Barton Mills) and London Road (Thetford roundabout) to dual the last section of the road. The Elveden bypass between Chalk Hall Farm (south of Elveden) to London Rd roundabout at Thetford is now open to traffic opened to traffic and two-way traffic is now running on some new sections of carriageway.
During the works, there will be a temporary speed restriction of 40mph throughout the scheme as well as some overnight closures and temporary traffic management as follows:
· Two way temporary traffic signals are in use as follows:
o To allow heavy plant to cross the A11 at Gibson’s Lodge during peak hours, Monday to Saturday between 7am and 7pm.
o Overnight on the A11, when required. When in use, these will be in operation between 7pm and 6am.
· Traffic on the B1106 is now using the alignment across the new bridge. Traffic signals will be in place and used throughout the day and overnight as required for completion of verge works. There is a temporary speed restriction of 30mph imposed on the Centre Parcs side of the B1106.
· The B1112 is closed on a 500-metre stretch on either side of the A11 to allow for the construction of a new underpass to carry the B1112 under the A11. There will be no access between the B1112 and the A11and a localised 40mph speed restriction on the A11 near the B1112 crossroads will be in place. Traffic wishing to access the A1101 or the A1065 from the A11 will be diverted via the Fiveways roundabout. The B1112 will remain open for local access at the A1065 near Eriswell and the A1101 near Icklingham and a temporary 40mph speed restriction will be in place along the B1112 for safety reasons.
· The C616 is closed at its junction with the A11. Access will be maintained via the A1065, Brandon Road.

A12 Station Square, Lowestoft, Suffolk: Traffic signal improvements
Suffolk County Council started work on Monday 27 January to improve traffic signals and pedestrian and cycling facilities at the Station Square, Waveney Road and Commercial Road junctions. Access will be maintained during the day but there will be some disruption and some overnight road closures as and when required. Work is due to be completed by 23 May.
