Robinson College announced as finalist in UK conference awards

The University of Cambridge’s Robinson College has been named as a finalist in the Best Academic Venue category, ahead of the 2015 Meetings and Incentive Travel Magazine (M&IT) Awards.

The national awards serve to recognise excellence within the UK’s conference and meetings industry, with venues throughout the UK being both nominated and voted for by conference organisers.

The college has long been regarded as an exceptional conference and events venue, and raised the profile of Cambridge as a top business destination when it walked away with Best Academic Venue Bronze at the 2014 M&IT awards.

Following a successful 2014, which included the launch of Robinson College’s new conference trade show, Clic+, as well as the construction of a new £5 million seminar building on campus, set to open this September, the team are hoping to eclipse last year’s win by picking up Gold at 2015’s ceremony.

“These awards are so important to us because they are nominated by our own clients”, says conference and catering manager, Nick Milne, “After winning Bronze last year we are absolutely delighted to have been nominated once again, which goes a long way to show the commitment and dedication that goes into offering a consistently excellent service for our customers. We’re looking forward to the ceremony and hope we’ve done enough to walk away with the top prize.”

Competition in the category comes from new entrants, Southcoast Conferences, University of Brighton; and Well Met Conferencing, Leeds Beckett University, as well as fellow 2014 winners, imago, Burleigh Court; and Warwick conferences who achieved Gold and Silver respectively.

The winners of Gold, Silver and Bronze will be announced at a glamorous awards ceremony on Tuesday 3 March at Battersea Evolution, London.
