Sagentia was invited to speak at the event to provide insights into the realities of working in high tech research and development and discuss how scientists and engineers can work together to create innovative, new technologies that have a positive impact on society. Rebecca Cuthbertson and Wai Chan will be talking about why they chose science and engineering careers, the career paths they and their peers have followed, what their roles involve and the types of truly innovative technology development projects they get involved with.
The Careers In Science conference is taking place at St Mary’s School, Cambridge and the University of Cambridge Chemistry Department and will host year 11-13 students from over 20 state and independent schools in the eastern region. The aim of the conference is to encourage more young women to study science subjects at university. Speakers at the event are women of extraordinary talent and dedication working at the top of their fields.
Participation at this event is part of Sagentia’s ongoing support for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education programmes and the company’s commitment to help further strengthen and develop the UK’s science and engineering industry. It follows Sagentia’s announcement in the summer that it is significantly increasing its support for the education of STEM students through a PhD sponsorship programme and an annual bursary scheme, to encourage the next generation of UK innovators.
