See your donation doubled and give EACH a major boost in the run-up to Christmas

People across Cambridgeshire are being urged to support a children’s hospice and see their donations doubled during this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge.

The UK’s biggest online matched funding campaign will run from 30th November until 7th December and could make a major difference to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

All donations made during that time will be doubled thanks to a pot of funds provided by key EACH supporters and partners of The Big Give.

Money raised will go directly to supporting the charity’s bereavement services and Locality Wellbeing Lead Pete Honig, based at EACH’s Milton hospice, says it is there for people across Cambridgeshire.

He said: “Our bereavement service is available to anyone who’s suffered the loss of a child – whether or not their child and family were known to us prior to their child’s death.

“We help parents and siblings and our work can and does include those from the wider family, like grandparents.

“It’s there for everyone who’s been impacted and we want them to know they can turn to us for support.

“The feedback we receive is very positive.

“For bereaved families, knowing they can come to our service at any point in the future – sometimes months and even years later – is a comfort.

“Our bereavement care and support is delivered to both individuals and groups.

“Some is face to face but much, at the moment, is delivered via online platforms.

“Staff have been able to adjust and demonstrated remarkable professionalism and flexibility to find new ways of working.”

Peter and his colleagues are calling on the public to support EACH during The Big Give, in order to raise vital funds to ensure families continue to benefit from the service.

He added that the festive period can be a tough and particularly challenging time.

“Christmas can be a difficult time and it never gets easier,” he said.

“As a society, it’s important to be understanding and sensitive and for those who have been bereaved to know other people aren’t afraid to mention their loss at these important times of the year.

“I’m sure many families have mixed emotions at this time of year, just as they do on certain other dates like birthdays and anniversaries.”

To show your support, all you have to do is visit the Big Give website between now (30th November) and 7th December and make your donation to EACH.
