The Homes and Gardens (April 2016) issue has just hit the shops and it includes a super piece about Select a Maker. Homes and Gardens’ design correspondent Barbara Chandler writes about commissioning bespoke, and why it’s getting a bit easier thanks to online directory Select a Maker.

The magazine features Bryony&Bloom’s fabric, a delightful pattern created from an original oil painting and Dana Finnigan’s cup and saucer, an example of the quirky surface patterns Dana transfers on to ceramics. As with all members of Select a Maker these companies invite enquiries for bespoke work.

People are becoming more familiar with the idea of commissioning work from companies and individuals who combine traditional skills and modern methods of making. “Whether you are searching for the perfect made-to-measure rug or a specific type of artwork, a custom-made fitted wardrobe or a mural we will save you time by presenting some of the UK’s best designer-makers in one place”, says Cambridgeshire based interior designer Yasmin Chopin, Founder of Select a Maker. “The directory is free to use and will fast become an essential resource for interior designers, garden designers and the general public.”
