The annual programme, which starts this month and finishes in July, includes peer group meetings and business sessions and provides a nurturing network that aims to develop sustainable business models. Hothouse was launched in 2011 and since then 163 makers have completed the programme.
"It's just when you leave university that you need something like this and I'm very privileged to get the opportunity to develop my business skills at this crucial time in my career', said Charlie (pictured), who was given the green light to share his Hothouse experience with Select A Maker by Katia Stewart, Talent Development Manager at the Crafts Council.
Regular bulletins will be posted on the Select A Maker blog, giving a unique insight into the programme - useful for potential future candidates, other makers and prospective mentors.
"Charlie has agreed to answer our questions throughout the six months," said Yasmin Chopin, Select a Maker's Founder. "We look forward to sharing his story, which will be a real 'inside view' on what is probably one of the most sought after business development schemes for creatives in the UK."
