Shell Enterprise Conference 2015 takes place next week

The Shell Enterprise Conference for low-carbon innovation provides a unique opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs in the low-carbon sector, including alumni of the Shell Springboard and Shell LiveWIRE programmes, to network, exchange ideas and discuss the challenges of starting-up and scaling-up in the UK.

The conference will explore how we can inspire the next generation of innovators to help the UK transition to a low-carbon energy system. Shell will also launch a report in conjunction with Imperial College Business School into ‘Engineering growth: enabling world-class UK entrepreneurship in the low-carbon economy’ at the conference.

We are pleased to confirm a number of high-profile speakers who will be sharing their thoughts on supporting low-carbon entrepreneurship in the UK.

Erik Bonino, chairman of Shell UK, will outline the energy transition challenge and Shell’s contribution to meeting the challenge.

Professor Erkko Autio of Imperial College London will outline the report’s key findings including the significant challenges to unlocking low-carbon growth, as well as recommendations for addressing these.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from alumni of Shell’s social investment programmes (Springboard and LiveWIRE), including Sam Etherington (Aqua Power Technologies Limited), Stephen Bennington (Cella Energy) and Alex Schey (Vantage Power) who were able to use Shell funding to scale-up their innovations.

Throughout the day, attendees to the conference will have the opportunity to hear from a range of influencers in the energy sector, including representatives from Goldman Sachs, General Electric and Innovate UK. These breakout workshops will be targeted to help aspiring entrepreneurs to develop and hone their innovations to fully realise their ambitions to take their products to market.

The event will take place on 24 March 2015, from 11:00–16:30 at the Institute of Directors.
