Showcase your technology to Brazilian decision makers during the World Cup 2014

The World Cup is not just the biggest sporting event of 2014: it will also be the biggest event of the year in Brazil. Among the excellent opportunities provided, the competition will serve as a platform for the UK to present itself to Brazilians as a place of technology leadership and innovation to deliver solutions for connected cities and urban mobility, as well as technology for major events, and more broadly a digitally connected world.

To take advantage of this opportunity, the British diplomatic mission in Brazil has developed an extensive activity programme related to the World Cup 2014. The initiative will promote events in technology for energy, infrastructure, and major events in Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte – cities hosting the English team during the competition. Among a broad programme of events during this period, there are three ICT showcase events being held during this time.

If you have relevant products, solutions or technology for any of these areas, the British Consulate in Sao Paulo has created an online directory to showcase UK technology to the invitees and attendees to these events. This is free of charge, and if you are interested, please visit  http://www.greatbritainhouse.ukti.gov.uk/ and register via the right hand corner button, and you can upload your profile there.

The events are:

6th June 2014: Belo Horizonte: Connected cities – ICT for overcoming challenges in urban mobility
This will look at the metropolitan challenges facing Belo Horizonte.  Transport for London will outline the vision and strategy for urban mobility in London followed by a discussion on how to apply lessons learnt to Belo Horizonte.  There will also be a representative from the UK city of Bristol - an example of best practice for a connected city in the UK. In the afternoon there will be a link to the technology sector, with the role of the private sector in urban mobility and intelligent transport solutions being discussed.

9th June 2014: Sao Paulo: Connected cities – ICT for overcoming challenges in urban mobility
This will follow a similar format to the event in Belo Horizonte on 6th June, including the role of the technology sector in smart connected cities, urban mobility and intelligent transport solutions.

It will cover the broad range of technologies, from infrastructure, security, and connectivity, to digital and mobile apps and big data solutions for smart cities and smart grids.

2nd July 2014: Sao Paulo: ICT for a digitally connected world, including ICT for major events
The focus is on the connected theme – internet of things, connected cities, connected health, connected cars, cloud, social, mobile and big data, connectivity infrastructure, digital and mobile apps. It will also look at the legacy of London 2012 and how British companies delivered technology solutions for major events.

If you have technology for any of these areas and are looking at the Brazil market, then make sure you register and add your profile to the online directory at  http://www.greatbritainhouse.ukti.gov.uk/. It’s particularly relevant if you have, among other things:
