Social i Media features in the Press

Cambridge-based media communications specialists, Social i Media, have been quoted in national and trade media this summer.

This week, co-director of Social i Media, Anna Marsden explained in Money Marketing magazine how financial services recruiters are headhunting recruits from LinkedIn and shared tips for job-seekers to exploit their job opportunities to the fullest.

Anna Marsden advised job candidates via Money Marketing: "As a specialist in financial services, make the most of the ‘rich text’ functionality on LinkedIn. You can now blog and add links to relevant articles, pictures and videos; this will help you stand out from the crowd.

“Personalise your URL, giving yourself better search engine optimisation when people are looking in your field."

Marsden also suggested candidates (and recruiters) lock their LinkedIn contacts (which can be done through the security settings) so their hard-earned professional contacts cannot be pilfered by competitors.

Last week, Anna Lawlor, co-director of Social i Media, examined the potential implications of wearable tech such as Google Glass on mobile content.

Talking to Business Technology - a supplement distributed with The Daily Telegraph - Anna Lawlor said: “I see Glass as increasing the types of user-generated content through its point-of-view camera, sharing experiences from tourism to sports, to sharing knowledge from recipes to how to play a musical instrument.”

However, she noted that with a limited number of early adopters, and prices still remaining high for the average person, it may be a few years before we see the true effects of user-generated content from a mainstream audience.

Social i Media help businesses and charities bridge traditional and digital media to thrive in this new communications environment. The business provides content, training, consultancy and research.
