Somersault helps the next generation of media professionals

One lucky media studies student got some serious on the job experience when Cambridge based Video Production Agency, Somersault Video Productions, produced a series of videos for Hills Road Sixth Form College.

Georgia Morris, a second year media studies student, was invited to work with the Somersault crew as they shot a series of marketing videos for the nationally renowned college.

Somersault produced six testimonial videos for the College, interviewing students about their experience of a range of courses from Archaeology to Business Studies. Georgia worked as a Production Assistant, helping with different aspects of the shoot including slating, set ups and lighting.

This is the second time Hills Road have worked with Somersault, with the first project ending in the company employing former student, Barnaby Palmer, to a full time position as a Production Assistant.

Jean Welsh, Head of Media at Hills Road was pleased that Georgia gained some valuable work experience, and also that the students were able to see a professional production team at work:  “It was great to have Somersault in the College for the day and they did a first class job.  Not only did one of our students get to work with the crew, but it was also really insightful for some of our students to see the detail and preparation that goes into professional video production.”

Richard Edwards, Lead Producer for Somersault, was extremely complimentary of Georgia and the College as a whole: “We were delighted for Georgia to become a member of Team Somersault for the day.  She was both hard working and conscientiousness and we hope it was an excellent way to get some experience of the media production industry. We enjoyed working with the College and we were made to feel very welcome. ”
