IMPA is adding in excess of 500 STP series hand-portable and DMO gateway radios to its existing fleet of more than 3,000 Sepura TETRA terminals and has assigned over 14,000 policemen to police and secure the Games. The Asian Games, September 19th to October 4th, are also officially known as the XVII Asiad and are the largest sporting event in Asia governed by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). They will comprise 439 events in 36 sports and disciplines and Incheon will welcome athletes and visitors from more than 45 countries
Mr. YG Jo, President for Winnersystech said: “Choosing to expand their existing fleet of Sepura TETRA terminals was a straightforward decision for IMPA, they have been using Sepura equipment for over 9 years and the latest radios present new and enhanced features that make Sepura’s offering both unique and highly competitive. IMPA users are particularly impressed with the radios’ quality, reliability and ease of use”.
Terence Ledger, Regional Director for Sepura commented: “We are proud that IMPA has repeated their business with Sepura as this is testament to their long term commitment to our products. Our radios will be used by the IMPA at the Asian Games for the first time and will give police users confidence in our radios and ensure seamless and continuous communication even in critical circumstances. Sepura has an impressive track record in providing communications at world events as demonstrated by our previous deployment at major global sporting tournaments such as the Mediterranean Games, the World University Games and the South Africa and Brazil World Cups”.
