If energy is to remain affordable, resilient and flexible, the UK will need a mix of sources and systems by 2050. Local systems, which could cover clusters of buildings to whole districts, will play an important part.
This is a prime opportunity for cross-sector working across the energy, built environment, digital and transport sectors by taking a systems approach to improving the balance of supply and demand of energy.
This two-stage collaborative R&D competition opens on 20 January 2014.
