The company writes:
So the planning began, looking for ideas which would work for this theme, ideas which would be different and ones which we knew the client would love. The aim for the event was to be a family fun day, so we needed lots of activities for the children, but also plenty for the adults to enjoy.
Now the hardest challenge of deciding on the theme had been met, the next step was to look at the decorations for the event. We started with the idea of the card theme, as an iconic symbol throughout ’Alice in Wonderland’. We rolled out this idea throughout the decorations, which included A3 sized cards hung around the site, a giant pack of cards for guests to play with, red, white & black coloured napkins and also card-themed table toppers.
Along with these table toppers we included red and white roses in the decorations, placed in a card-themed cup. These worked perfectly on the tables and were a great gift for the guests to take home with them.
Next on the agenda was to create ‘Eat Me’ and ‘Drink Me’ signs which we positioned on the food and drinks. We sourced these online, and they worked brilliantly as part of the theme.
Our final challenge was to look at entertainment for the day. We needed to find ideas which were new to our client and also ones which would excite the children and keep them thoroughly entertained. So, to bring our ‘Alice in Wonderland’ theme to life, we brought in the characters from the book. We used themed circus performers, including a Queen of Hearts and jumping White Rabbit on stilts, and a juggling Mad Hatter. Each character was fantastic and thoroughly entertained the guests, especially the Queen of Hearts, who amused everyone with her sayings throughout the day. Our very own Fay was dressed as Alice and she loved being part of the theme.
Alongside this we had a circus workshop, which consisted of our playing card character showing the kids and adults how to spin plates and hula hoop, as well as other circus tricks. The workshop was constantly busy and attracted most of the guests at some point throughout the day.
To add to the entertainment we also provided four stalls with Alice themed games and stalls, comprising a higher or lower card game, Hook a Duck, Cork shooting and a coconut shy. Children and adults alike loved these games and they were busy throughout the entire event.
We also hired some extra activities just for the children. They absolutely adored the face-painter, who themed their faces appropriately, including rabbits and playing cards, among others. We also had a story teller who told Alice themed stories throughout the afternoon – the children were captivated by the magical tales, which kept the parents pretty happy too!
For the finale for the day we had a spectacular fire show; although it was the still light you could still see the effect of the fire and the audience loved it.
The day was a huge success and our client absolutely loved all of the entertainment we arranged. ‘We have heard nothing but positive feedback from everyone with regards the party - it was an amazing day.’
We have already been asked to start thinking of ideas for next year’s Summer party; we will have to ensure we top this year’s event! Our thinking caps are already firmly in place.
