Stagecoach freezes on-board passenger fares across Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire

Bus company Stagecoach has announced it is freezing its on-board fares on most routes throughout Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire (including Cambridge and Peterborough) as part of a major drive by the organisation to continue to offer its passengers value for money and encourage more people to travel by bus.

The price freeze will apply to tickets purchased on-board, these include Cambridge Park & Ride, as well as dayrider and megarider tickets throughout the region.

Andy Campbell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East says: “These price freezes are a real boost for our customers.  Lots of people will benefit from the continued great value fares that we offer, particularly those who use our services most frequently.”

He continued:  “We want to show our gratitude to our loyal customers as well as looking forward to attracting even more people on to our greener, smarter services in the future

While putting up prices of some off-bus tickets, significant savings are still to be had buying tickets in advance of travel, the bus company claims.

“We recognise that affordable travel is vital to the success of the economic and social life of the region.  Our pre-purchased tickets still offer very good discounts against standard prices. We aim to keep any increases in fares to a minimum but they are necessary in order for us to continue to invest in improving our services for the benefit of passengers.”

Stagecoach East is part of the Stagecoach Group, one of the largest bus operators in the UK.  In 2014-15, 38.7 million passengers travelled on 361 Stagecoach East buses, on routes covering 17.9 million miles.

Stagecoach East has 940 employees.  Operating at 90% reliability, the company invested £8.5m in new buses last year and the service receives just one customer complaint for every 3,841 miles.  For more information visit www.stagecoachbus.com
