Jessie will undertake the five-year development programme designed for school leavers with a strong interest in pursuing a career in business and finance.
Encouraged by the College, Jessie applied to the BrightStart scheme in October 2015: “I went to an insight day at Deloitte when I was still thinking about university. After visiting lots of universities and looking at courses based around accounting I realised apprenticeship schemes are a respected option, that get you to Chartered Accountant status faster. Earning a salary and not building up a student debt was also an attraction. After several different online tests and two rounds of interviews, I was excited to receive an offer and will start my apprenticeship in the autumn.”
BrightStart offers a compelling alternative to university. The five-year scheme provides excellent training, support to gain professional qualifications and a head start in a long-lasting, influential business career. On completion of the programme, Jessie will be a qualified accountant, with extensive business experience under her belt.
During the programme Jessie will gain valuable hands-on experience as an Analyst in the Entrepreneurial Business Service Line – working on a range of projects and working with Deloitte's Entrepreneurial Business audit team to handle their clients’ accounting, audit and tax compliance requirements as well as providing advice and assistance to our clients concerning key business issues.
Head of Guidance at Stephen Perse Sixth Form College, Simon Armitage reflects: “We are hugely proud of Jessie’s achievement. As part of the Stephen Perse Foundation, we excel in preparing our students for life. At the College this includes our unique Guidance Programme through which we connect students to a breadth of inspiring future options. For many this is university, but we encourage students to consider all options and instil a confidence in them to follow the path that’s right for their individual strengths and ambitions.”
