The Professor of International Enterprise Strategy at Anglia Ruskin University told students the secret was to strive to be excellent in everything they did – and to say yes to opportunities when they came knocking at the door.

Professor Lloyd-Reason was talking to higher education HNC and HND business students, many of whom are planning to complete their degree with a final year at Anglia Ruskin.

He told them: “Being entrepreneurial is about being great at every single thing you do – if you focus on that, things will come to you because you will stand out.

“It is important to be enterprise-centred – ask yourselves: what do you know, who do you know and what can you do?”

Professor Lloyd-Reason, who is also Director of CEDAR, the Centre for Enterprise Development and. Research, highlighted the success of major companies which had rejected conventional business thinking and instead focused on an entrepreneurial mindset – citing Apple as one example.

CRC HE Business course leader and lecturer Silvia Duedal said the talk had really inspired the students.

“We were very privileged to have Professor Lloyd-Reason here at CRC and he gave a very thought-provoking and inspiring talk. More and more of our HND students progress on to ARU to finish their degree and this year a record 37 students will be moving on there, thanks to the partnership we now have with the university,” she said.
