Successful Light Up EACH Life campaign back for a second year

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is pleased to announce that the charity’s festive campaign Light Up EACH Life will be returning this December for the second year.

Light Up EACH Life will run throughout the month celebrating the life of every child and family the charity cares for. EACH offers light to families in the darkest of times, giving families precious memories that will last forever.

Light Up EACH Life will support local families like Isabel’s. Seven year-old Isabel Nicole lives with her mum Emma, dad Jon and little brother Jake in Ely. Isabel is non-verbal, she is a full-time wheelchair user and is entirely tube fed. Isabel requires constant care and assistance in all aspects of her day-to-day routine. Her whole family use services through EACH.

Emma Nicole, Isabel’s mum, explains: “Since we were introduced to EACH we’ve used so many various services. We’ve had short break care at our home where EACH nurses care for Isabel so that we are able to have a break and take some time to relax.

“EACH has enabled Isabel to benefit from activities which she would struggle to access outside of the hospice – in particular her hydrotherapy sessions. She adores the freedom swimming allows her but we struggled to access a pool which was warm enough for her. The hydrotherapy sessions EACH offered her were hugely beneficial and she smiled and giggled from the moment she went in the pool to the moment she came out.

“EACH run a Christmas party which we attend every year – it’s such a special event for a special time of year. We love being able to go as a family and enjoy time together – it means so much to us.

EACH means so much to so many families – if you can support the Light UP EACH Life campaign in anyway then please do.”

There are a range of ways supporters can join the Light Up EACH Life campaign:

  • Celebrate at one of many special concerts and events taking place across the region – these include a concert at Great St Mary’s Church in Cambridge featuring musical collective We Are Sound and percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, as well as a comedy extravaganza at The Regent Theatre in Ipswich hosted by Griff Rhys Jones featuring stars including Lee Mack, Andy Parsons and Al Murray
  • Buy a light on the dedicated webpage where supporters can write a personalised message either in memory of a loved one or in support of EACH
  • Share your support of social media using #LightUpEACHLife.

Lesa Barker, Head of Fundraising - Events, Compliance and Training, said: “Light Up EACH Life is a celebration of the children and young people with life-threatening conditions that we currently support, those we have supported in the past and their families. The families we work with tell us what a lifeline EACH is to them – that our services give them light at the darkest of times. Celebrating the families we work with at Christmas, which is such a special time of year, will make it all the more poignant.

“Christmas is a time to support others. We can all brighten the lives of other people, whether that is just through a smile, helping a stranger or just saying good morning. Light up EACH Life celebrates the enormity of how we can support others through dark times, as well as how EACH lightens the life of every person who walks through our doors.

“There are so many ways you can get involved and by supporting our campaign you will be helping EACH to continue to provide our vital care services at a time when families need it most.

“We’d love to hear from you and find out how you are lighting up each life so please use #LightUpEACHLife so we can share your support – thank you!”
