Suits in Boots – call for teams!

Calling all footballers in Cambridge companies! Suits in Boots sees the Cambridge business community take to the football field in support of street children across the globe. Founding host La Playa is seeking teams from Cambridge firms to join the “World Cup” 5-a-side tournament to support Street Child United. Men’s and women’s teams welcome.

Entry deadline: 27 September 2019

Tournament: Friday 4 October 1-5pm at Jesus College, Cambridge

Matthew Mullee, an Ambassador for Street Child United and Co-Founder of specialist insurance broker La Playa, is the driving force behind Suits in Boots.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support for this event in previous years, and are looking forward to hosting another superb Suits in Boots event this autumn. The gauntlet’s down!”
 - Matthew Mullee, Co-Founder, La Playa

Hosted by kind permission of the Master and Fellows of Jesus College, this year the tournament will take place on Friday 4 October from 1pm onwards at Jesus College Sports Ground.

The tournament will raise money to support future Street Child United events. Previous Street Child United events include the Street Child Football World Cup Moscow 2018 and the Street Child Cricket World Cup which took place in Cambridge and London earlier this year. Street Child United gives a voice to street-connected young people across the world, who are often marginalised, ignored and stigmatized. Many street-connected young people have no legal identity, no access to education and are at risk of violence abuse. Since its inception in Cambridge in 2008, Street Child United has become a global campaign and has received high-profile backing including from Sir John Major, David Beckham and Gary Lineker.

“When people see us by the streets, they say that we are the street boys. But when they see us playing soccer, they say that we are not the street boys. They say that we are people like them. They are people like us.”-   Andile, 15, Durban

"I know from personal experience just what power football can have to inspire and change young people’s lives whatever their background or nationality. This is what the Street Child World Cup is all about and I give it my full support.”  David Beckham

Entry is £125 per team, with all proceeds going to Street Child United.
