The five week SummerDaze programme is crammed with free activities and runs until 25 August.
Whether you are sporty or crafty there will be something for everyone, from exploring the very small world of mini-beasts to the very large world of junk modelling.
With a focus on the natural world and making the most of recycled materials, activities aim to offer challenging play experiences which make the most of the city’s great parks and open spaces.
This year ChYpPS team mascot, Beaky the vulture, will be flying down to a number of sessions to meet everyone and get his photo taken.
Children and families will also be able to jump aboard the ChYpPS Community Play Boat for a whole host of activities. Look out for the big red boat moored at Water Lane (by the old Penny Ferry) every Monday and by the lock at Jesus Green every Thursday.
Five Big Wednesdays will bring a festival feel to proceedings with things to do for all the family and the chance to take part in music, arts, face painting and sport.
Cllr Richard Johnson, Executive Councillor for Communities, said: “This is a great programme of activities for children and their families. With something different to do every day all over the city, there is really no reason to stay indoors this summer.
“A highlight of the calendar, SummerDaze is perfect for trying out new activities and experiences free of charge.”

As well as working with other council teams, including the Active Lifestyles team, to put on the SummerDaze programme, the ChYpPs team has also collaborated with University of Cambridge Museums, Cambridge Fish Preservation and Angling Society and Historyworks.
