The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has joined other leading organisations including Highways England to assess the future outlook.
The UK is experiencing record levels of investment in transport-related infrastructure. While this unprecedented level of spend is creating opportunities for regeneration and economic growth, it also places a huge burden on the country's skills base.
The survey aims to identify the severity of the skills shortage and when and where it will hit, as well as the barriers to attracting and retaining a skilled workforce.
Responses will help inform the highways skills debate and contribute to a greater understanding of where the pinch-points are that could threaten delivery.
The closing date for responses is 14 October 2016.
