Taylor Vinters, recently awarded the leading regional firm for Technology Media and Telecoms in 2015 by the Legal 500, has split its property division to reinforce its firm-wide concentration on clients operating in innovative industries and the broadening scope of its international practice.
Taylor Vinters today announces that 13 members of its real estate team have transferred to Howes Percival as part of a mutually agreed department transfer. Steven Beach, Michaela Henson, Simon Murphy and Amy Richardson will transfer to Howes Percival’s new office on Hills Road, along with five associates and solicitors and four other members of staff. The team will join Howes Percival’s existing Cambridge real estate team, headed up by partner Jonathan Greenhalgh.
Taylor Vinters retains nine commercial real estate lawyers - headed up by James Slinger and Helen Mutucumarana - who will work alongside the 10-strong private real estate team in delivering services to innovative and entrepreneurial businesses and charities in the UK and internationally. The retained Taylor Vinters’ real estate team will focus on working with science parks and technology occupiers, with international investors to develop their property assets in the UK, and on supporting entrepreneurial landowners to develop the potential of their assets. They will operate across all three of the firm’s offices in Cambridge, London and Singapore.
Ed Turner, managing partner at Taylor Vinters, says: “Over the past 18 months, we have been repositioning Taylor Vinters to take advantage of the burgeoning demand we see from clients operating in innovative, fast-paced industries; ambitious entrepreneurs whose ideas and demands aren’t constrained by geography. The transfer of the regional real estate team reflects our commitment to a narrower business focus – on Technology, Investment and Entrepreneurial Wealth clients - but one which is broader in business scope and reach.
“We welcome the smooth transition of this team to Howes Percival where we believe those talented lawyers will have a secure future operating in the general regional market on which they are focussed.
We wish to thank the lawyers affected for their contribution to Taylor Vinters’ success over the years. They leave the business with our thanks and very best wishes for a successful future.”
Howes Percival entered the Cambridge market earlier this year with an initial focus on property and corporate work. Its recently opened Cambridge office is part of the firm’s strategy to invest in growth to support clients across the Northern Home Counties region, connecting the firm’s offices in the East Midlands and East Anglia.
Tessa Haskey, Howes Percival’s Chairman says: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome the Taylor Vinters’ team to Howes Percival. They are very highly regarded in the local market and because of the mix of specialisms and expertise they bring, covering commercial and residential property, planning and property litigation, we feel they are a perfect fit with our existing team in Cambridge.
“Our Cambridge office is heavily focused on the regional commercial property market and therefore, going forward, Howes Percival is the best place for this group to be. We are working closely with Taylor Vinters to ensure a smooth transition for their existing clients, and we are looking forward to providing those clients with a first class service.”
Taylor Vinters is a law firm with offices in Cambridge, London and Singapore. It is an entrepreneurially minded ‘next-generation’ law firm with a commitment to being one of the elite law firms operating internationally in the core areas of Technology, Investment and Private Client.
