The Regulations set out a hierarchy of measures that should be followed to reduce the risks from manual handling. These are set out in regulation 4(1) and are as follows;
- avoid manual handling operations so far as is reasonably practicable,
- assess the risk in any manual handling operations that cannot be avoided and
- reduce the risk of injury so far as reasonably practicable

The course is suitable for anyone who is requires to undertake manual handling assessments in any organisation or company that carries out manual handling activities, as in order to be deemed competent you need to participate in training.
