Stevenage based Tier 2 Consulting has announced the continuation of their unique partnership with the University of Hertfordshire - as an official module sponsor of the School of Computer Science.

In addition to delivering a number of course lectures, Tier 2 will once again be presenting a cash prize to a winning team of students submitting work in the Implementation phase of their study modules.

Working in teams of 4 or 5, second year students studying Computer Science and Information Technology will be vying for the award, which will be judged on both course work and presentational marks.

Commenting on the continued partnership with the University, Tier 2’s Andy Kennedy said “We want to play an active role in helping students develop their skills and get a taste for working through scoping, designing and then implementing projects where their team work can lead to a rewarding outcome - in addition to good grades.

Of course our motives are not entirely altruistic. We desperately need to grow the talent pool in the UK and as a Hertfordshire based business we want to be able to recruit locally whenever possible.  We see our relationship with one of the region’s top universities as a mutually rewarding initiative and look forward to being involved with the students again this year.”

Olenka Marczyk, Module Leader in the School of Computer Science at University of Hertfordshire, said “The Computer Science Development Exercise is an important module for students as it’s one of the first opportunities they have to experience a development project that reflects a real life scenario.

“We are delighted to be teaming up with Tier 2 Consulting again for a second year. The team’s experience in web development, their sponsorship and support adds real gravitas to the module and provides students with the opportunity to showcase their abilities to our commercial partners.”
